Side Sleepers

Chiroflow Pillow

Most people sleep on their side or back.  I recommend pillows depending on how you usually sleep.  Side sleepers need to fill the space between the outside of their shoulder and the side of their head.  This space varies depending on the person, so I recommend the Chiroflow Waterbased Pillow for side sleepers.  The height and firmness of the pillow can be personalized based on how much water is added.  This pillow is a fixture at my home and works especially well if you have trouble with your pillow moving at night.  The Chiroflow Pillow stays in place.

Back Sleepers

People who sleep on their back require different support and should not seek tall pillows.  The taller a pillow, the more that the head is held in flexion overnight, possibly straining muscles of the neck and shoulders.  Some people have reason to elevate their head and shoulders for other considerations.  For back sleepers I generally recommend the Tri-Core Cervical Support Pillow.  The Tri-Core Pillow features a hollow for the head to improve spinal alignment and support the neck’s curvature.

Roll Over

If you are a stomach sleeper then I’m sorry to tell you that this is not ideal.  Sleeping on one’s stomach requires the head to be turned to the extreme to one side or the other.  Muscles become stretched out (lengthened) on one side of the neck and shoulder and shortened on the other while you sleep.  This can lead to trouble with muscles on opposite sides of the head being in different conditions, so I don’t recommend stomach sleeping.  Have you thought about sleeping on your back or side?  I have a comfortable pillow for you.
